The Call2Recycle program currently accepts only dry-cell batteries weighing under 5 kg each. We do not accept any wet-cell batteries, as they are managed under different regulations and requirements. Wet-cell Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cd) and wet-cell Small Sealed Lead (SSLA/Pb) are used for a number of applications in aviation (engine start, emergency power), electric utilities (turbine backup, power station and substation back-up), energy storage (wind and solar farms), cellphone towers (backup system for maintaining communications) and some industrial applications (oil and gas industry, marine, etc.).
