This Earth Month, Call2Recycle is proud to spotlight our expanding partnership with Morguard as we work together to power a more sustainable Canada—one battery at a time. We also congratulate Morguard on being recognized by Call2Recycle as a 2024 Leader in Sustainability recipient, a testament to their environmental stewardship through their nationwide One Planet program.
Launched in 2022, One Planet drives impactful sustainability initiatives across Morguard’s 19 national shopping centres to reduce environmental footprints and foster greener communities.
As part of this mission, Morguard partnered with Call2Recycle in early 2023 to launch seasonal battery collection drives through our Recycle Your Batteries, Canada! program during Circular Economy Month. The response was overwhelming, and the results spoke volumes: 1,928 kg of used batteries—roughly the weight of a large elephant—were safely recycled and kept out of landfills in 2024.
Encouraged by this success, Morguard has since embedded year-round battery collection into the One Planet program at 10 shopping centres nationwide—with ongoing support from Call2Recycle. Participating locations include Bramalea City Centre, East York Town Centre, Centerpoint Mall, Holt Renfrew Centre, Bonnie Doon, St. Laurent, Prairie Mall, Sevenoaks, Parkland Mall, and Shoppers Mall. The convenience and practical access of these high-traffic locations in Ontario, Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan have gone a long way to encourage Canadian shoppers.
At Call2Recycle, we’re committed to maximizing battery recycling efforts nationwide. By partnering with influential and leading organizations like Morguard, we’re expanding our collection network to ensure convenience and accessibility for Canadians as well as increasing public awareness about safe, responsible battery disposal.
This partnership is a powerful reminder that sustainability thrives through collaboration. Together, we’re protecting the environment and setting the standard for circular economy across Canada.
Because together, we can do more. And together, we can power a greener and sustainable future.
