Overview
In Quebec, battery regulations were expanded in 2022 to cover certain vaping products and e-cigarettes with built-in or removable batteries weighing less than 5 kg. To help producers meet these obligations, Call2Recycle offers a turnkey collection and recycling solution for vaping products and e-cigarettes, as part of our Recycle Your Vapes program.
The program supports the safe collection, management, and recycling of eligible products, enabling the recovery of batteries contained in items such vaping products and e-cigarettes including their batteries.
The program helps manufacturers, importers and retailers meet their Extended Producer Responsibilities (EPR) requirements in Quebec, while also supporting municipalities and other partners in the safe collection and management of vaping products and e-cigarettes including their batteries.
To provide a convenient solution for consumers, the program also collects similar products with removable batteries.
Call2Recycle, as part of the Recycle Your Vapes program, offers two distinct services:

Obligated Producers
You may fall under Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations and obligated to participate in a battery recycling stewardship program if you manufacture, sell, distribute, license, or import vaping or e-cigarette products that use batteries in Quebec (see Programs by Territory or Province).
Call2Recycle Canada (Call2Recycle) is a registered Producer Responsibility Organization (PRO), helping obligated producers fulfill their regulatory obligations in applicable provinces and/or territories.
Private Vape Destruction and Recycling Service
Call2Recycle understands the unique challenges businesses face when managing unsellable or surplus vape products, including pods, devices, and disposables. Our specialized Bulk Vape Destruction and Recycling service is designed to address these complexities through a seamless, secure, and compliant process that prevents unauthorized resale, ensures regulatory compliance, and protects your brand.
Our process is compliant with CRA and CBSA requirements and helps eligible businesses recover excise tax refunds for destroyed products that are unsellable or removed from circulation under Canada’s Excise Act, 2001.

By becoming a collection partner, retailers play a critical role in helping to ensure the safe and responsible end-of-life management of battery-powered vapes and e-cigarettes.
Collection partners, including vape shops, register to become collectors of vapes and e-cigarettes. Call2Recycle provides all necessary collection materials, including specially-permitted UN-rated, pre-paid, pre-addressed, vape shipping boxes and program guidelines.
