Listening, Learning, and Leading: Celebrating Our Collection Partners and What They Told Us

At Call2Recycle, we know that the strength of our battery recycling program lies in the people and organizations who power it. That’s why we reached out to our network of nearly 15,000 collection partners across Canada to share their insights on what’s working, what’s valued, and where we can go next. Between April 4 and May 1, 2025, 534 partners responded to the survey commissioned by Call2Recycle and conducted by Leger, an independent research firm.

The response? In a word: inspiring.

We’re proud to report high levels of satisfaction, strong engagement with our tools and services, and clear affirmation that our partners see the Recycle Your Batteries, Canada! program as a driver of environmental progress and business value. Today, we’re celebrating you – our partners – for the work you do every day to build a cleaner, safer, more circular Canada.

A National Network of Support and Satisfaction

95% of collection partners are satisfied with the Recycle Your Batteries, Canada! program, a strong endorsement of the value we deliver across the country. The highest satisfaction came from British Columbia, Ontario, and the Prairies, reflecting accessibility and operational support.

Also encouraging: 89% of you would recommend Call2Recycle to others. That’s a resounding vote of confidence in the way we support your teams, your customers, and your environmental commitments.

Simplicity and Service at the Core

Ease of use remains a defining strength of our program. More than 8 out of 10 respondents (86%) say the program is easy to manage, especially in Ontario, and our straightforward return process continues to earn high marks.

We also heard great things about our customer service team, with partners describing them as professional, knowledgeable, and easy to reach. With 84% aware of how to access support, we’re encouraged that our service model is resonating, and we’re committed to keeping it strong and responsive.

Tools That Work, Materials That Matter

You told us what’s working, and it’s clear: our safety materials, collection boxes, and program resources are hitting the mark. In fact:

  • 79% of respondents use our safety materials
  • 88% use our regular battery collection boxes, and satisfaction is high
  • 83% know how to order or replace materials

These are the building blocks of a successful program – and your feedback confirms that they’re reliable, effective, and easy to access.

Communications that Connect – and Have Room to Grow

Most of you find our newsletters and updates helpful and clear. And for those who receive our performance reports, the value is evident. However, not everyone knows these reports exist, a simple communications gap we’re already working to close.

The ring chart shows that 11% of collectors surveyed is aware of the value of the collector report from Call2Recycle.

We also heard that promotional materials matter. Posters topped the list of requested marketing support (22%), followed by pamphlets, signage, and digital content. Your passion for community engagement is contagious, and we’re excited to help amplify your efforts.

Thinking Ahead: Innovation with Impact

We were inspired by your ideas for the future, from QR code-based ordering to a dedicated app and scheduled pickups. These innovations are exciting, and we’re exploring ways to incorporate them into the next evolution of Call2Recycle’s offerings.

And it’s not just about operations. 38% of our partners say the program enhances their brand image, and 44% say it draws desirable traffic to their locations. You can feel that impact in both your community presence and your bottom line.
